Dogwood spittlebug (Clastoptera proteus)

Larose Forest

A tiny bug that is quite common around dogwoods. In the nymph stage it forms little balls of spittle on the dogwoods shrubs. By the way, the head is on the right, even though it looks like there are eyes on the left end!
