Pyralid moth (Acrobasis) frass tube

Reveler Conservation Area

The larva creates this small but very sturdy tube and covers it with frass (insect poop), and hides inside. I found scores of them on bitternut hickory along with hairstreak butterfly larvae. Thanks to Bug Guide for the ID of the frass tube.
