Sap-feeding beetle (Glischrochilus sanguinolentus)

Mer Bleue area

This very small beetle, which superficially resembles a lady beetle, is on the underside of a Fomes fomentarius fungus. They do feed on sap as their name suggests, but they also feed on fungi and you can see the 'trail' left behind from feeding.

Love the patterns and textures of this shot! The beetle could almost be mistaken for a ladybug.
