Several of these very small treehoppers (probably P.concava) were on goldenrod stems sitting on eggs. Ants were tending them, as there is a mutually beneficial association between the treehoppers and ants. The ants like the 'honeydew' the treehoppers excrete and in return they fiercely protect the hoppers from predation (or try to).
