Bittersweet, Asian (Celastrus orbiculatus)

Also called Oriental Bittersweet and Asiatic Bittersweet, this non-native, very invasive vine will grow and spread rapidly, displacing native species. It is quite beautiful, but so is the native American Bittersweet (Celastrus scandens)(see here for an image: http://www.pbase.com/image/158532619)

Always a worry when an invasive plant overtakes the native species... but a
beautiful image Christine! v

Super sharp and attractive but the invasive plants do cause big problems.
Parts of our area are overrun with Japanese Knotweed - pretty but deadly!
