Elm sawfly larvae (Cimbex americanus)

There were 6 of these large larvae on a willow shrub in Warwick Forest, in three different colours (see next). These are NOT caterpillars... they are the larvae of a very large wasp-like creature. See here for the adult: http://www.pbase.com/image/106089909
