Elm sawfly larva (Cimbex americanus)

Mer Bleue Conservation Area. This large and quite pretty larva was curled up in the characteristic spiral that these sawflies adopt. The larvae are NOT caterpillars! This is a beautiful shot of this sawfly, Christine. I have only seen Hibiscus sawflies and they are tiny compared to this! Wonderful composition, too. V
