Shaw Woods. There was an abundance of beech seedlings (as well as millions of sugar maple seedlings) in the woods, and I thought they were particularly pretty in shaped and colour. Inset in the photo is a mature beech tree with its fresh leaves just unfurled. This is how the mighty beech trees began life!
