Northern spring azure butterfly (Celastrina lucia) on Bolete mushroom

Gatineau Park

There was another azure behind the mushroom, where there were also a dozen or more tiny flies, like the one flying to the left of the azures.

The small lycaenids are my favourite butterflies, with seemingly endless interesting variations on the underwing markings. Are these two obtaining food from the bolete? This is a delightful and sharply-detailed image.

I rarely get on butterfly let alone two. Double the pleasure in this excellent image. V.
