Some species of orchids here grow only in bogs and fens, and can be difficult to find because of this. We were fortunate to find two regionally significant orchids species: the Grass Pink (Calopogon tuberosus) (right, in photo) and the Rose Pogonia (Pogonia ophioglossoides)left, in photo. The top photo shows the bog habitat with the native species of Phragmites australis (the tall grass), NOT the European version of the same that is highly invasive.
The top photo is blurry because of intermittent rain (before the rain set in for good) and I didn't realize my lens was wet.
