Northern green orchid (Platanthera aquilonis)

Manion Long Swamp

This is a relatively common native orchid, but is probably overlooked because it is not very showy! Growing up to 3 feet in height, it can be found in damp areas including bogs and moist woods. It used to be called P. hyperborea and that is still the name in older field guides.

The shape of the blossoms look like orchids. I like it all in shades of green. Very pretty. V.
