Zebra jumping spider ((Salticus scenicus) with prey

This was taken in my garden in mid-July. The little jumping spider appears to have another spider as prey. Or else it has just shed its skin. Difficult to determine. These zebra jumpers are very common in the region, and can be found inside and outside of houses. I think they are super cute!

They are all around our house here in spring and summer. My guess is that it is an empty skin.
