Haiku # 14: A leaf falls

The leaf of an Amur Maple, caught in the trunk as it fell down. The poet, Ransetsu is a well-known Haiku poet of the same general period as the other great master, Basho; Issa was writing some years later.

A leaf falls,

Totsu! Another leaf falls

Carried by the wind.
