Monarch chrysalis

A monarch chrysalis that will one day become a butterfly (in about 12 days I hope). This is one of two caterpillars I reared from eggs this summer. The second one should soon be pupating.

That is the generation that will make the incredible flight to mountains in Mexico. Love your detailed macro work and informative narrative. Voted.

So great that you breed them to see them emerge. Should make for some great shots.

I've had a lot of fun rearing these butterflies. And a lot of frustration waiting to photograph them at "just the right time"...

Gorgeous capture. It's so amazing to watch the transformation from egg to butterfly. I 'raised' them with the grand kids a few times!
