Painted lady (Vanessa cardui) on Viper's bugloss

These "ladies" continue to pour through this part of eastern Ontario and through Quebec. There are many fine photos being posted on PBase of these delightful butterflies. It is difficult to resist taking photos of them :-) We haven't seen such a large movement of these painted ladies for a long time (can't remember when the last one was). People are reporting seeing scores at one time, even hundreds at one time. This lady was one of more than 220 I saw yesterday near the Mer Bleue conservation area.

Beautiful sharp top-view shot in a nice setting Christine . I too have at least a dozen of these beauties visiting my backyard daily. The just love my patch of Zinnias. Like you, I find it hard not to take more shots of them.
