Predatory stink bug (Podisus sp.)

Mer Bleue area

There were about 8 of these bugs around a now small colony of red admiral butterfly larvae on stinging nettle. These particular stinkbugs (Podisus species) prey on other insects, including caterpillars. But not all stink bugs are predatory. Many are plant suckers!

Were you tempted to knock them off the leaf or do you let nature take its course :-)
Another super close up, Christine.

There's a lot going on in the tiny insect world. I'm not sure I like them eating caterpillars but that's nature. Superb and detailed macro. V.
