Showy lady-slipper orchid (Cypripedium reginae)

These gorgeous large orchids are so exotic that it seems difficult to believe that they are a native species here. Not common by any means, but they do grow here.

From looking up a very similar one it said they can be three feet tall.
I have seen here some tiny ones only inches if that but alas they have disappeared from our property.
