Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana

Witch hazel is a native shrub that is best known for flowering at this time of year. True, the flowers are small and not showy, but they certainly are pretty when viewed up close. In this part of ontario, it is considered quite rare in the wild. However, some local nurseries sell this shrub. This was photographed at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden.
