This large caterpillar turns into a large, spectacular moth with two huge "eyes" (patterns) on is underwings which it flashes at predators to scare them off. The spines on this caterpillar can deliver a very, very nasty sting.
I wonder how effective those spines are as defense for this rather helpless, juicy and obvious caterpillar, and indeed whether they're hard or soft. Enjoyed the detail and colours in this image.
