This is a busy time of year for squirrels. Winter is approaching and they need to not only get their winter quarters ready, but gather and store food to see them through the winter. Red squirrels have a different method of storing food than grey squirrels do. These guys stockpile food in large caches, while the greys do what is called "scatterhoarding", burying nuts here and there and everywhere.
