Each fall I clean out the nest boxes at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden, and usually find some occupied by mice (probably white-footed mice, but at any rate, one of the Peromyscus sp.). Some nests are made entirely of grass. Others of milkweed seed fluff, and lately, of dog-strangling vine seed fluff.
