Brown mantisfly (Climaciella brunnea) , a mimic of vespid wasps

Larose Forest. Easy to tell where this insect has been! On its back foot you can see a tiny yellow dot. This is a pollen packet from a Common milkweed plant. Many insects nectar on the flowers and when they leave they usually end up with a sticky little pollen pack on their feet. When they go to the next milkweed, the pack drops off into the flower and voila, pollination occurs.
