The grey structure in the background is part of the local sewage treatment plant; the water is the treated
effluent from the plant. It looks clean, it doesn't smell, and the area is home to enormous numbers of birds.
Not just the pelicans you see here, but swamp hens, ducks of many persuasions, swans, ibises, herons, ......
