Taming the Panther

West Virginia

Polaroid Macro 5. The Impossible Project PZ Color film.

Queenie is continuing to make the transition from feral to domestic cat. I got her this catnip mouse today at the store hoping to teach her to play during the day instead of at night. Then the game is to attack me by launching herself across the bed, landing on my back and bouncing off. Over and over.

Feral cats apparently roam at night and sleep during the day. It's a battle to keep her awake during the day so I can sleep at night. One I'm losing, btw.

For the September challenge - Transitions. Other transitions can be seen here.

She looks like she's pondering her next move. I bet she didn't stay still long,
great timing to get this shot!

I thought all cats lked to roam at night. I have one (Jenny) who has always been an indoor cat and one (Gracie) that spent her first few months outdoors (before I got her). Both of them like to play at night. I use ear plugs.

I'm sure that in time she'll adjust to your rhythm! Meantime.... But she sure is adorable!!! V

Being so young she wants to play all the time. She'll become a sleeper in a few months.
Janice Dunn05-Sep-2011 00:13
Hopefully as she gets older (soon I hope) she'll start settling down at night.

A difficult transition for sure, though she will settle down with age and getting used to new surroundings some of the feral will likely stay with her. The good side is that if she ever gets out she can fend for herself unlike our over-domesticated cat Diego who would be clueless. Cool photo, I must agree with Lynn, she looks cranked up. "V"

all cats are night monsters but interesting to hear feral cats might be more so.. my Charlie was picked up at just a month old but.. she sleeps all day and gets into so much mischief at night! she perks up as soon as it gets dark and wants to play play.. she does sleep with me at night for awhile, but in the morning it's full on play for a half hour, then she's out for the day pretty much

She looks very cute and loveable so I'm sure she will make the transition to become a domestic pet. She looks full of energy in this photo and her eyes are stunning! Great photo. V

Oops, meant to say that I really like the photo!! She looks cranked up!

She'll settle down. Part of it is her age too. My Finn keeps us up at night still, part of his youthful enthusiasm and part instinct. Once he reaches adulthood, he'll sleep a lot more. We put him in the spare room at night so we can sleep.

My eyes have told you ... ! Great! V.
