Enjoying the Summer Day

West Virginia

Went into town today and saw Possum Man selling blackberries so stopped to chat and catch up.

He's been doing relatively well. He said he had been back in the hospital.

He was his usual taciturn self. :) Told me he was getting around and plans on picking chinkypins again this fall.

He had a smile on his face the whole time and that did my heart good.

I gave him a donation since I've got blackberries in my yard. Told him to buy some of the good Coke, the kind in the glass bottles since I noticed he was drinking it from a plastic liter bottle.

Then he got a paying customer and I had errands to run.

It's so good to see him again, been wondering how he was. Thanks for posting the update. He does seem happy and peaceful in this photo.

A nice portrait. I like this guy because the photos of him and the descriptions remind me of my relatives in Tennessee. V.

Your story sounds really universal. I could live the very same experience from where I grew up and my family lives.

He's looking younger than before...so good to know he's doing okay. Bet those berries are sweet too.

I smiled at the "good Coke" statement . . . high class stuff when you get it in the glass bottles =)

A fine portrait and a well told narrative. I hope he sold lots of them!
