This is our 1st trip to Taipei. Many years ago, we transited at Kaoshiung on our honeymoon to Japan and Hong Kong. This trip from 28th March to 6th April 2019 includes a day excursion to Taichung by Taiwan HRS. We had 3 days of day trip by booking a cab service. My first impression of Taipei while on the way to our hotel from the airport was visiting 3 countries at a go. While leaving the airport, it reminds me very much of Tokyo and further out, like Thailand where you see padi fields and farms. Nearing the city, the older part of town was very similar to my hometown of Ipoh.
