May 20

I’m sittin’ in the railway station
Got a ticket for my destination
On a tour of one night stands
My suitcase and guitar in hand
And every stop is neatly planned
For a poet and a one man band ....

This idea has been running thru my head for months! Finally I was able to borrow the guitar case from my little friend Alex, and I decided to go for it. Desaturated and noise added. Could have cropped but was satisfied with the tilt and gritiness and loneliness that the song always makes me feel.
Please stop and say hello to Marianne, the mastermind behind some of the best inspirations for this series. She made sure the focus was correct and pushed the button for me. We had a quick but fun time, and I'm trying to get her to get into the digital world.

Superb 'set-up'. Love the B&W and noise. Well done to the photographer and Creative Director!

(I think Paul Simon wrote this before he was a star when waiting for a train on Wigan station, Lancashire. That is the sort of place from whence you would want to go home! LOL)

Really enjoy this one. Very thought provoking.

I like railways. Beautiful composition. You must upload b&w shots more often. They are really exceptional!!
Have you used b&w of 20D?
Guest 30-May-2005 17:10
Love the B&W for this, like you've said.. a "Timeless Feel". Have to watch out, it can get habit forming. Now.. I'm gonna hush and look.

I saw this phot this morning and I have not been able to get that song out of my head the whole day! THe shot is great. You really put a lot of effort into your pad - and it pays!

Beautiful expression of a feeling and of the lyrics to a wonderfully evocative song!
Guest 21-May-2005 12:37

Karen Stuebing21-May-2005 11:00
One of my favorite songs too. I think you captured it's essence here perfectly.

Fab! This idea has been on my mind for months as well, except that I was just going to look out for a guy strumming a guitar on a station platform!
Now, if you succeed as much as Mr Simon when he wrote this song....
Herb 21-May-2005 04:35
Great composition and I am singing along.
Pepe Zyman21-May-2005 04:26
Outstanding composition! VOTE

This is perfect Karen. Great contrast in your tones and a wonderful setup. Looks truly believable. Great angle on the shot and I think that's what makes it as good as it is.
Mindy McNaugher21-May-2005 03:10
Fabulous shot! You have created the perfect image and mood to go with a great song!
Guest 21-May-2005 03:00
Karen I love this image..I have something for you..look at my PAD..
Guest 21-May-2005 02:41
Full of emotion...the photo and the song. B&W and grain works well. Excellent.
Dennis Steinauer21-May-2005 02:38
Great shots, Karen -- both of them. All you're missing is the pole with the cloth pouch at the end. That isn't a computer bag you're sitting on, is it? :-)
Gary Winters21-May-2005 02:17
Perfect! And now I have that song in my head, but that's a good thing. Great song. Really cool photo, Karen. You're a poet with the camera.
Monte Stevens21-May-2005 02:13
A story is told without a title or the lyrics. Well done, Karen!
Guest 21-May-2005 01:20

Something we should all do at least once in our lives.
Guest 21-May-2005 00:39
Yep! You are so talented with these shots Karen. The look and feel to this is
dead on and I'm looking for my knapsack!

Elaine (etfitz)21-May-2005 00:04
Wonderful image! Like the mood!

Just perfect. You have captured the moment. I deal with and know folk performers and this really captures them. It totally defines the song---The Road Musician.

I also love B/W photography.
