Plymouth GTX

The GTX was an option on the 1967 mid-sized Belvedere line. It came with a standard 440, with only the Hemi as an engine option. It included all the comforts available, and it was a great muscle-car. It remained in production through the 1971 model year, with the 1970 model being the high point in it's development, also having the 440 +6 available.

Of all the muscle cars I ever drove, and there were many, the GTX stands out in my memory. That 440 came on quick, especially with a Torqflite transmission, and it was able to get the power to the ground, even on those old bias-ply tires. For street racing it was better than a Hemi up to 70-80 mph, as few street races lasted that long.
