The art deco styled Fire Headquarters was built in 1931 to originally house the following companies; Engine 13, the Hose Company,Water Tower 1 and Water Tower 2, Service Station, Repair Shops, and supply. It's a massive complex of buildings.
Engine 13 was disbanded July 1, 1994. It was quartered on the far left of the picture where the addition is. That is now actual headquarters for the commissioner and office staff. In 1981, Engine 13 was moved to the rightside middle bay. the Water Tower companies were disbanded in the late 1940's as well as the Hose Company. Today the headquarters still bustles with activity.
The Repair Shops are still located here on the 7th Street side. The Paint and Sign shop is located on the 7th Street side as well. The Fire Alarm Office is also located on premise which dispatches all calls in the city. The Reserve Fleet is all located in the complex as well. Also based at Headquarters are the Mobile Air Unit's, (F-7), (F-8). They deliver SCBA tanks to all stations and to all 1st Alarms within the city. Also based at headquarters is the EMS Officer(F-20),Safety Officer
(B-41), Operations Officer(B-53), as well as the commissioners.
