Lang's

It might have been Mr.Lang's, back in the mid to late sixties when my neighbor made me take her to see a drummer she had a crush on. He played in a group called Barbara St. Clair and the Pinkooshin's (I think that's how they spelled it). Anyway, it was a basement club, and it was TINY. The erudite would have called it "intimate." I think after that, it may have been called "Dirty Dick's Bathhouse," and then it became the original Tralfamadore Cafe, around 1975, but by then, my bar days had drawn to a close. No regrets, save one.

Sadly Barbara has past - she was the best and is surely missed - we had so many great times- just saw Ron doing a gig at plantasia- sounding great - said he is going to retire soon - he had triple bypass - getting old sucks

Went there in 1963 to 1966. Tom Lang tended bar and the legendary Bill Hill and Jimmy Lennon did also.
It was 'Bater guys second favorite hangout after "The Hideaway". The 'Baters also hung out at Dave's other bar at Point Breeze from 1963 to 1965. It was in the lower lever with a long stairway from the front entrance. Would not be allowed by today's fire codes. I think I was the only person who knew where the second exit was!

I remember going there when it was Mr. Lang's in the late 60's. It really was a small place but it was great... Great music and lot's of dancing... Went there with a friend so see a guy that went there... Guess today it would be called stauking. Then it was just hoping to bump into him... LOL

I worked as a bartender for Tommy and Dave Lang from January 1969 to October 1969. Lost my virginity to one of the barmaids. Happy days. Ate many a sub from Avenue next door. Once served OJ Simpson right after he signed with the Bills. Joined the Navy in October. Miss those days 46 years later. Holy crap! Time flies by.

There used to be an Avenue Sub Shop right next door where I worked for about 9 months. I made a lot of subs there in '70 for Dave Lang. I also made subs for some famous Basketball players after a Braves game, including Bob Lanier and Sidney Wicks.

I saw Barbara Sinclair noted on Billy McEwen's Facebook page- She is still singing? I decided to search for her on the inetnet and sound this page

I saw Barbara when I was at Fredonia State College at she was singing at the Caboose - Barbara Sinclair and the Pinkooshins! I danced 'til I dropped - thanks for posting about Barbara - I couldn't find a website for her- yet--Ruth

Wow we're really going back in time. My girlfriends and I practically lived at Langs..I remember Barbara St. Clair & the Pinkooshins (that IS the correct spelling). I had a mad crush on JAKE the organ player. Wouldn't trade those days for anything. The stairs were brutal..I remember once making an "entrance"..trying to anyway..then my purse opened and everything spilled out..how embarrasing...and I do believe Jake noticed. My favorite song he played..was "Our Day Will Come" by Ruby and the Romantics. My name is Linda

I worked for Tom and Dave Lang during the Dirty Dicks Bathhouse days as a bartender, bouncer, manager, and Dave Lang's Candlelight Room days also as manager. The last time I saw Tom Lang was back in the 90's on Elmwood ave, he was in good spirits.

When I played Langs in the 60s it was called the Casa Savoy owned by John and Dave Lang.The other brother was To and a sister Cheryl that I went to school with.Pete pierre on drums,Bob Marchiano rhythm Jim Morrow on bass Phil Perry on sax also Lenny Riforgiotto on drums It was way down steep stairs and dark as apit but the people just kept on coming.

That is the same Langs I referred to. It was owned by John Lang, his son Dave and I believe another son Tom. Barbara Sinclair is still around. She is a great blues singer now. I should remember who the drummer was for The Pincushions. Langs was my "hangout." Those stairs were brutal! Unfortunately, their location at The Lake is now a parking lot but the memories are still right there.

The bar at Main & Hertel was Atkins from late 40's till at least late 50's and the Langs didnt'own the Casa Savoy that was Al Digati followed by Big Frank last unk ,before the Cas it was the Hollywood lunch

Does anyone remember the name of the bar that was on the corner of Main & Hertel? Not in the 80's when it was "Thumper's". It was something else before that in the 70's...

I remember this place as the Casa Savoy, Dave Lang and his father John Lang owned it. Popular place, good music..had a great band with a drummer named Sandy Konicoff, guitar player was good too.
