Does anyone remember that Sattler's opened a store in Henrietta NY, adjacent to Rochester? I worked for Sattlers from the time they opened in Henrietta for over 3 years and loved the store. Their competition was Sibley's and Edwards on Main St. in downtown Rochester. It was a sad day when they closed but the customers could not seem to get it through their heads that Sattler's had everything the "upscale" local stores had, and more. If I could move to Buffalo from Rochester, they offered to keep me on as a Dept. Mgr. they were wonderful to their employees.

I remember the oj stand and the ice cream, it was custard, and I've never found anything like it since. They also had this great sweet pickled mix with cauliflower and onions in it which was hidden in the "jewels" of their food dept. downstairs. I grew up "on" Sattler's everything. My grandma lived in the neighborhood and my parents shopped here once a week even tho we lived in an area with good Polish groceries. I live in AZ now and will always cherish my days at 998 Broadway.

I remember going with my mother during the Christmas season in the mid 60's. It was like Macy's before I even knew what Macy's was. The parking lot was bustling with cars and people making their way through the snow into the store.

SATTLERS had a automotive tire store in the rear lot .I used come to 998 a lot with my mother and grandmother, they made me walk down FILLMORE FROM BEST ST.After we shop at 998 and the Broadway market they were tired and I got to ride home on the STREETCARS.I miss all the good old days.

I was just talking to my mom about Sattler's a few week ago I remember she would make some of of kids stay in the car while she would shop for us (there was six kids!) and I would look at that huge white wall waiting for a movie to start! I really thought that wall was the drive in!

I have a picture just like this that my daughter took from my Mom's apartment. I loved looking at it everytime I visited her. The employee enterance was on the Beck St. side which is on the left side of the building at this angle. This pic makes me smile with memories.
