opposite the minihotel is a row of shops, catering mainly to locals, which sell canned foods, rice, some fruit and
vegies (when available), some items of clothing, batteries, lollies, smokes and other stuff that the locals need.
the shops take Australian dollars and US dollars too, i guess.
