on the way from the airport to our hotel, a 30 minute trip, we passed quite a few windmills.
these windmills pump groundwater into the raised tanks and water is reticulated to some
of the villages in this, the most heavily populated part of the island. there are
around 6000 people living in Kiritimati, and the Village of London is one of the
largest, and the District headquarters. visitors should drink bottled water.
