since my last visit to
Kiritimati (in April 2008), the boats used for transport
to flats has changed dramatically. Ikari house now has
3 fiberglass boats (that I am aware of). On my second
week there, Wai Knot took me, Nathan and a trainee
guide out to the various fishing spots. The older style,
outrigger boats like Mary are, also, still used if needed.
