Cloud City / Kaktus Towers

Kaktus Towers, Kalvebod Brygge, Copenhagen

The Kaktus Towers rise in Copenhagen like something from another world or time. Kaktus Towers are not just buildings:

Stark and sharp-edged, their glass and steel seem both alien and organic. When I first saw them, they reminded me of the engineers' spaceship in the movie Prometheus set in the not too distant future.

They pierce the skyline, twisting slightly as as huge metallic flowers reaching for the sun.

There’s a kind of rhythm to them, a strange harmony in their jagged form.

They do not blend in; they refuse to, one might say. The stand out, and a lot of people don't like them, to put it mildly.

At night, the towers glow faintly, their windows alive with the lights of the people inside. The hum of the city below never ceases, yet the towers seem untouchable, above it all.

They are not beautiful in a soft way, quite the opposite. To some, they are beautiful in a way that challenges you to see differently.

The photo was taken with a vintage Nikon D3
