Original Stele: 1800 B.C
The original stele was found in Susa by Jaques De Morgan, French archaeologist, in 1901. It was directly transferred to the Louvre museum for text decoding and restoration; a copy of the stele (plaster) was returned to Iran, by French government!
The original stele had been located in a temple in Babylon which was transferred Susa on 1160 B.C by an Elamite king (Shutruk Nahhunte) during conquest of Babylon.
Hammurabi himself can be seen on top of the stele (left) while worshiping the God of sun, Shamash.
There are 282 articles of a rule, craved on the body of the stele in Akadic cuneiform, as one the first written lows in human history. Provisitions of the articles are based on the social Relations of that Period.
