banyan tree at the edison ford estate

Fort Myers, Florida

...a native of India, the Edison banyan was the first banyan introduced to Florida. In 1925 Thomas
Edison received the young tree as a gift...the tree takes up over an acre of ground and is the third
largest banyan in the world...the enormous prop roots inspire visitors to touch the tree and the
canopy feels like a cathedral... sadly, the groundskeepers have roped it off to protect it from the
many winter visitors to the Edison Ford Winter Estates....

Beautiful old tree. Like the framing. It looks like it's reaching it's arms out to the sky.

I was amazed when I saw a banyan tree at Jupiter inlet. This is a great shot of very intriguing plant life.
