We were still sitting in the boat at the shore of the Laguna Manailtepec ready to start our boat tour when we snapped off a few quick shots of this night heron. The tour only got better after that. We really recommend taking a boat ride to see more wild birds (and more close-up) whenever you find yourself near any lagoons, mangrove estuaries, or other such good wetland bird habitat. In Mexico, it was typically pretty easy to find a local "guide" with a boat who would take us out for a reasonable fee.
