Half-tailed Nicon 2

Niconiades incomptus

When we encounter a new species we've never seen before, our typical photographic M.O. is to shoot from a distance and then keep blazing away as we move closer to the subject. So we often end up with a series of images with the subject going from small to large in the frame. Often the subject flies away before we get close enough for a frame-filling portrait, but then we still end up with an identifiable image. These two shots of this Nicon are a good example of that M.O.
