During a summer break from school at the UW- Madison (1980) Jodi Hitzke -Donaldson and I traveled
out to Sheridan, Wyoming to work for the famous Eaton’s Ranch at the base of the beautiful Big Horn
Mountains. Little did I know, as we traveled across Minnesota and South Dakota, that this would be
one of those life changing experiences. There I met my future husband, Doug Rideout. He was the
Ferrier for the ranch.



After returning to Madison to finish school, Doug and I kept in touch, carried on a long distance
relationship and were married in 1984 after graduation. We moved to Wyoming for a year and then on
to Lake Havasu, Arizona and back to Sheridan in 1990.



Doug and I have two beautiful daughters. Katie is 19 and just finished her first year in a
professional training program with the Milwaukee Ballet. She actually spent her senior year
(graduating) at Homestead High School, living with my parents so she could attend dance school
in the City. She recently signed a contract with Milwaukee Ballet II and will get paid next year!
Megan is 16 years old, just got her driver’s license and is currently looking for a summer job.



Doug is a Superintendent for the City of Sheridan. I have been the Executive Director of the
Sheridan Senior Center for the past eight years. It is an amazing place and a great job!
Sheridan County’s population is 26,000+ and is a beautiful community. We live in a great
little house on the top of a hill with 360 degree views that are to die for! I love it
and think I will be here forever…
