Northern California Coast

An old photo but one with good memories attached. It's not often you can
find solitude on any part of California's coastline - we camped overnight on
this bluff and were lucky enough to have the entire place to ourselves.

Canon EOS 5D

I was thinking California coast as more populated.
Well exposed.

Very beautiful long exposure seascape...the 13s exposure gives movement to the water and clouds, and you have great depth here! Love the tones as well.

The beauty of this image rests in the extension of time itself. ¥our thirteen second exposure at night produces a softly blurred flow of water that is almost audible. The color is magical, and by anchoring the image with the huge boulder at the bottom, you launch the eye on a journey that follows the flow of the tide as it wanders up the right hand side of the image. A magnificent seascape.

I exposed for fifteen seconds to make a similar image on Oregon's Bandon Beach a year earlier. It was earlier in the evening so my image is a bit lighter, and since my sky was devoid of interest, I built my image around rocks jutting from the flowing water, but the overall effect is very much in keeping with yours. I like the mist, the low light, the thick cloud cover, and the shades of blue contributing to the sense of isolation, Jenene. Beautifully composed. Vote
