NGC 5426 spiral galaxy of type SA(s)c pec (lower galaxy) and NGC 5427 SA(s)c pec (upper galaxy) in
Virgo. Together these galaxies make up Arp 271, which is in the class of “Double Galaxies with
Connected Arms” in the Atlas of Perturbing Galaxies, by Halton Arp. Taken over several nights from
May 10, 2021 through Jun 10, 2021. Imaged with Starlight Xpress’ SX-825 camera and a Celestron EdgeHD
9.25 at f10, on a Losmandy G11/Gemini mount. The L subframes were 10 minutes binned 1x1, while the
RGB subframes were 4 minutes binned 2x2, resulting in the following total exposures L:R:G:B (in min)
= 420:72:72:72. Captured with Nebulosity, calibrated and sigma combined in Iris with other
processing using PixInsight LE, GIMP, and Photoshop CS. North is up.
