Death of the Wetlands

Bayou Labranche - St. Charles Parish, LA

While politicians talk, the wetlands disappear. All these trees are dead or dying. Within 5 years they will all be dead. I did not see one single healthy cypress tree, nor any newly emerging cypress trees in the 5 miles of bayou I checked.
Politicians continue to talk of fresh water diversions from the Mississippi River to save the wetlands. It is too late for this cypress swamp. Nothing can save it now.
