The Kaiserplatz is located in the extension of the Bahnhofplatz between Kaiserstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse and designates both the green area there and a small connecting street. On the square is the Kaisergärtchen , a small fenced green area with ornamental beds and magnolia trees. The Kaisergärtchen was laid out in 1878 as part of a Gründerzeit ensemble with carpet beds, palm trees and magnolia trees. Since the care of the carpet beds was very time-consuming, they were replaced in 1924 by simpler, circular and rectangular flower beds. Sand paths originally laid out were leveled in the 1930s and lawns were planted in their place. At the end of the 1970s, there were considerations of allowing footpaths to cross the strictly mirror-symmetrical Kaisergärtchen and thus combining the two crossings to the train station into one crossing in the middle.
