Scuol, the main town in the Lower Engadine, and neighbouring Tarasp and Vulpera are situated in a wide, forested valley basin of the Inn. Scuol has a wide choice of leisure attractions including the thermal spa and winter-sport mountain of Motta Naluns. The Vereina railway tunnel with car transport makes Scuol fast and safe to reach all year round. Nevertheless, the Lower Engadine (Engiadina bassa) remains a quiet valley off the beaten tourist track. The Lower Engadine is sheltered by mighty mountain chains: to the north the Silvretta group and to the south the Engadine Dolomites and the area is thus known for its dry and sunny climate.
