Maloja

Maloja lies at the western end of Lake Sils and connects two fascinating landscapes: the Upper Engadine Lake District and the Graubünden’s southern valley of Bergell. Here one appreciates above all the uncomplicated atmosphere, the spirit of famous painters and traditionally made sausages. The village at the border of Italian-speaking Switzerland does everything to uphold its reputation as a family-friendly vacation destination. But not just families are at ease in this natural environment. The fascinating play of light and shadow has always attracted artists. Giovanni Segantini selected Maloja as his last home and subject for many landscape paintings. Also Giovanni Giacometti – the father of Alberto Giacometti – worked here. Their spirit is still an inspiration for exhibitions, readings and concerts.
