Mikolaj Kopernik chamber was named after the great astronomer, who was one of the first tourists to visit Wieliczka Mine.
In 1973, on the 500th anniversary of his birth, this salt rock carving "Nicolaus Copernicus" by sculptor Władysław Hapek was added to the chamber.
