These two porcelain items are my keepsakes from visit to my sister who lives in Hof,Germany, a few years ago.
The Rosenthal angel was a gift from my sister and the Hutschenreuther heart I bought myself in the porcelain shop in Selb, a town based in the middle of the "Porcelain Route" between Weiden and Hof..
You can easily identify Hutschenreuther because of the famous logo which features a lion.
The first porcelain manufacturer to set up in the area around Selb was C. M. Hutschenreuther in 1814.
The raw materials for producing porcelain - china clay and charcoal for the kilns - were found in abundance in the Fichtelgebirge mountains, and during the course of the 19th century, the area around Selb developed into a worldwide centre of the porcelain industry.
