Two national flags on two same buildings for doubling photo.
May 2nd is the National Flag Day in Poland. There is a reason why it is on this particular day.
During the communist times all buildings, cars, trains, etc. were obligatory decorated with red and white flags for the celebration of 1st May.
But on 3rd May there is a very important date for Poles - anniversary of The Constitution of May 3, 1791, considered as Europe's first and the world's second modern codified national constitution.
The holiday was not accepted by the communists and for many years it was banned. That was why all the 1st May flags had to be taken down by 3rd May.
Leaving a flag up that day could bring serious trouble. This holiday has been recently re-instated and was declared official in February 2004 by the Polish Sejm.
So now we can leave the flags up for the whole three days :)
