Water, ice, rain...
A poem by Robert Francis (1901 - 1987 / USA)
"Blue Winter"
Winter uses all the blues there are.
One shade of blue for water, one for ice,
Another blue for shadows over snow.
The clear or cloudy sky uses blue twice-
Both different blues. And hills row after row
Are colored blue according to how far.
You know the bluejay's double-blur device
Shows best when there are no green leaves to show.
And Sirius is a winterbluegreen star.
It's gonna be a blue winter without you
It's gonna be a blue winter for me
While other lovers sit holding hands
By a warm fireplace
I'll be home, all alone
Longin' for your warm embrace
It's gonna be a blue winter without you
I'm headin' for a blue winter I see
Our love's too young to grow old
Darlin' don't leave me out in the cold
Don't let it be a blue winter for me
